Special education student with Aspergers struggles unnecessarily Plano

100_0669Children with “invisible” disabilities are some of the most misunderstood in public schools. They are treated as typical children yet struggle.  These children may have slow processing, learning disabilities, intellectual delays, asperger, or autism. They may need specialized instruction in social skills; without it they may not behave appropriately resulting in discipline issues.

Public schools are mandated to address these needs’. Parents need to insist they be addressed to prevent unnecessary discipline problems. If the school refuses, there are simple actions parents can initiate without legal representation.

The civil rights advocates at The IEP Center© can help these northeast Texas parents. We have low-cost advocates available to help parents prevent on-going struggles with the public school.
